I was waiting for the two individuals in the foreground to move when a tanker sailed into the frame completing my imperfection. (Critics of fine art take note: I don't plan these things).

Everyone visiting Shanghai takes this picture. As I write I'm sure a hundred more iPhone snaps have been added to the brimming bucket of internet data we are drawn to every night before we go to sleep. My thoughts in 2017: what if I spent a week taking exactly the same image from the marked point where I took my first 'Bund Shanghai' picture back in the days when there was little there to shoot ... so I did. scroll to the end to see the first image shot on a Hasselblad X-Pan .. and PS: apologies to the Chinese for marking the pavement: I'll fix it someday.
