San Marco 1999: Photographer: Neil Emmerson
Initially there was no illusion with this image until one day around the turn of the Century, someone knocked its framed self off the shelf where it was leaning and then accidentally replaced it the wrong way up. I didn't notice for days but something about the picture was bothering me. After discovering the damage to one corner of the piece I returned it to its original and intended position .... but it wasn't as good and this bothered me more for a few days as my virtual Venetian World seemed to want to be inverted. My thoughts were shared by a coffee company who hung it on many billboards around the World; the wrong way up .. Venice Upside Down. Shot the right way up with a Nikon F3.
